One day I’ll make a custom banner for this top section that lets you instantly know that this particular newsletter is part of the “Ask Me Anniething” advice series. So you can, in an instant, keep reading or carry on with your day. I’m still on the fence about the name. It’s definitely…kitsch.

My mom named me after herself, which was something I found out 36 hours ago. My entire life, I was told I was named after Annie Oakley, which supposedly is still technically true, as it’s what inspired my mom’s nickname (she’s a natural “Ann,” and it’s her middle name), which then became my first name. I need to confirm the lore to go any further back, but it apparently involves a Methodist circuit rider and his hot wife, who had long hair. I may be editorializing this a bit.

This is obviously shocking news because I would be lying if I didn’t have preconceived notions about mothers who name their children after themselves. For the modern man, I imagine it’s often for lack of creativity, but for women it’s certainly a choice. Reflecting further, I think I might be the type!
Here are some questions I received via my Instagram, though I prefer you ask in the comments or via Substack message. Questions are in bold.
